Rumi Daf Ensemble's Second Concert

On August 26, 2023, the Rumi Daf Ensemble, under the leadership of Jalal Kimia, held its second major concert at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater in Rockville, Maryland.
This event, featuring renowned musicians Pejman Haddadi, Behfar Bahadoran, Sirvan Manhoubi, and Alireza Shahmohammadi, was met with an overwhelming response from the Iranian community and beyond, drawing an audience of approximately 400 attendees, including many non-Iranian guests eager to experience the beauty of Persian music.
Concert Program

The performance was structured in two parts:

Part One – The evening opened with a powerful performance by the Rumi Daf Ensemble, presenting three original percussion compositions by Jalal Kimia. The ensemble’s rhythmic precision and dynamic energy set the tone for an immersive musical journey, captivating the audience from the very beginning.

Part Two – The second half of the concert commenced with a collaborative performance featuring all the musicians and the Rumi Daf Ensemble, blending vocals, setar, and percussion into a mesmerizing fusion of sound. The concert continued with performances by Pejman Haddadi (percussion), Behfar Bahadoran (setar), Sirvan Manhoubi (setar), Alireza Shahmohammadi (vocals), and Jalal Kimia (percussion), featuring compositions by Behfar Bahadoran and Sirvan Manhoubi.
This segment highlighted the profound depth and emotional richness of Persian music, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.
Following the success of this concert, the Rumi Daf Ensemble remains committed to its mission of preserving and promoting Iranian music. We aim to continue our annual concerts and strengthen our role within the Iranian community in the Washington, D.C. area, bringing traditional and contemporary Persian music to a wider audience.
